Alright, I'm writing this pretty late. The Colorado State Fair was open August 22–September 1 this year, and I had a piece in the fine arts exhibit hall!
While I didn't win first, second, or third place in my division (the only guaranteed awards), I did manage to snag an honorable mention. No one else in my division got one, so I basically had the fourth-best amateur photo in the state. Nothing to sneeze at!
It was my first time submitting my work to something like this and it was really exciting.
I took this photo, Bison Trio, at Rocky Mountain Arsenal. I love the arsenal, it's a really cool place, and a great place to see bigger wildlife in the Denver Metro Area than the squirrels and pigeons you see in town. It's really cool to get to go see the bison and deer and other creatures at the preserve. I'm really lucky to live in such a cool area. I absolutely love Colorado.
If you love this photo as much as I do, be sure to check out my shop, where I have a few more postcards of it, as well as 13"x19" print, available for purchase!
The one I brought to the fair is 16"x20" and is no longer for sale, but you can get your own print of Bison Trio from my shop or by contacting me if neither the postcard or 13"x19" sizes suit your fancy.
Shoutout to my dad, to Jennifer, and to Abi for driving me down to Pueblo to drop off and pick up my piece, and also just going to the fair with me.
I checked out the Pueblo Zoo with my family on the drop off day, which was also pretty cool. We got to watch the penguins being fed! I love penguins.
